Learn about traditional fish printing techniques practiced by Japanese fishermen to record their catch, from fish biologist and gyotaku artist Chris Dewees.  You will also have an opportunity to learn how to make botanical prints from Christy Dewees. All materials and lunch are included in the price.

About the Leaders: Art is a creative way for Chris and Christy to share their passion and knowledge of nature.  Chris Dewees has focused on Japanese fish printing (gyotaku) since 1968.  In 1976 he co-founded the Nature Printing Society, an international organization promoting awareness and education about creating art from natural objects. Christy Dewees has a degree in botanical illustration from University of California at Davis.  She is a pen and ink and painting illustrator, as well as a nature printer and enjoys working with plant prints on fabric.
